March in March 2011 – A Call for Participation and Support
March 13th 2011 at the Hibiya, Sho-on-Gakudoh
We are now celebrating the 18th anniversary of the “foreigner Shunto organization” which began back in 1993 to raise the voice of migrant workers, who work as a part of this society and support it.
Now, as our society begins to become multi-ethnic and multi-cultural, we have reached the point where immigration policy is being debated. However, most immigrant workers (foreigners) are still employed irregularly or through the trainee and intern system, and are seen as nothing more than a disposable labor force.
In March 2010, we changed the venue for “March in March” to Hibiya Sho-on-Gakudoh. With multi-ethnicity and multi-culturalism as the watchword, we opened a “migrant workers’ music festival” and had a big success. The performers and audience worked together as one and the words “We Are the World” remained in the hearts of many participants.
This time we want to call out for even more support from our friends. We also want to let everyone know more about the energy and dynamism of migrant workers and the joy of a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural society.
We sincerely hope for your support for the event.
