Hello Begunto Musketeers!
I hope you enjoyed your Labor Thanksgiving Day Holiday today.
Today, is as good a day as any to reflect on what a union is, and what it means to belong to a union.
A union is simply an organized group of workers who collectively use their strength to have a voice in their workplace.
Through union membership, workers can impact wages, work hours, benefits, workplace health and safety, and other work-related issues.
A union is not a service, rather it is a fraternity where members help and support each other.
It is this collective strength which allows us to work towards our goals.
When members support each other, the union is stronger.
When members get involved, the union is stronger.
When members make an effort, the union is stronger.
When members sit back and let other members do the work, the union is weaker.
So, on this day I want to offer genuine thanks to all those members who got involved and made our union stronger – be that joining the executive, coming to CB & union meetings, taking minutes, returning a ballot, or even just
putting a stamp on an envelope.
Every little bit helps.
As the saying goes, it truly is ‘All for one…and one for all’
I have attached to this mail a poster containing some comments from a person you may know very well. But, you probably were not aware he said these things.
